Islas Secas - 'Dry Islands'
16 miles south-east of Boca Chica, the Islas Secas are a small archipelago of islands, some with beautiful white sandy beaches. These are the closest islands for diving and harbour more than ten dive sites. All the islands are uninhabited except for one which is home to the Islas Secas Hotel, a small luxury resort. These islands offer perfect beach stops between dives.
The diving around the islands has some very good visibility during the dry months and is home to many fish that congregate around the rocky and coral outcrops as well as forming large schools. White-tip Sharks, Rays and turtles are also encountered frequently as are free swimming Moray eels, Lobster and Nudibranchs. Humpback whales can be seen around these islands in season.
There are dives here for all levels of diver and some great diving can be found.
Time to dive sites: 30 – 40 minutes
Depths: between 15 - 35 meters
