Panama Travel - How to get here
Panama
Panama is a five hour flight from New York, just three hours from Miami, with regular flights from all over the United States and several direct flights from Europe (Madrid and Amsterdam). Alongside Panama's International airport, Tocumen, there is also the domestic airport, Albrook, just minutes from downtown Panama City. Albrook has regular daily departures to key tourist destinations such as San Blas, Bocas del Toro, Las Perlas Islands, Darien and David. Flights to David, the provincial capital of Chiriqui, take under an hour.
From David, Boca Chica is within an hours drive. Half an hour down the Inter-American highway, and you reach the turn-off to Horconcitos. Thanks to a new road, half an hour later, you're in Boca Chica. There are regular buses from David to Horconcitos, from there you can catch a taxi. Alternatively, a taxi from David will only set you back about $35.
Upon arrival to Boca Chica, depending on your choice of accommodation, you will either be dropped off at your hotel by your taxi, or will catch a boat for a short ride to your hotel on Isla Boca Brava.
We will pick you up from the dock of your hotel in the morning of your dive trip, and return you there at the end of the day.
A little more Panama Travel Information
Taxis are plentiful throughout Panama and, unlike in some parts of Latin America, they are considered a safe form of transport.
Buses service nearly every part of the country and are a popular form of transport for Panamanians. They are affordable and often air-conditioned. Old United States yellow school buses take on a whole new lease of life in Panama, with some, particularly in the city, being ornately and beautifully painted.
All major international car rental companies are represented in Panama with offices throughout Panama City (including at the airports and some hotels), and regional offices throughout the country. For an additional fee you can hire a vehicle in one place and drop it off in another.
